Materials, Care Guide + Warranty

At DAĀS Jewelry, we pride ourselves on jewelry made from only high-quality materials. Our jewelry is designed to be loved and lived in and therefore we provide a care guide to prolong the life of your DAĀS pieces.

Materials:

14k Gold Filled

The term “gold-filled jewelry” refers to items with a core of base metal with an outer layer of solid gold. Created by mechanically bonding 14k gold (at least 5% gold) to the surface of the base metal using heat and pressure. This is a permanent bond so the gold is extremely durable, tarnish resistant and can last many years when following our care guide. Perfect for people looking a for an affordable alternative yet look-a-like to solid gold. To help prolong shine and lifespan, we advise to limit contact with water, liquids and chemicals. Nickel and lead free, hypoallergenic and will not turn your skin green!

18k Gold Vermeil

Pronounced ‘ver-may’. With a base of 925 sterling silver and 18k gold plated with a thickness of 2.5 microns. Vermeil jewelry is delicate and more durable than standard plated sterling silver, they can last years when following our care guide. They are hypoallergenic meaning no green skin and we never use lead or nickel. To help prolong shine and lifespan, we advise to limit contact with water, liquids and chemicals.

925 Sterling Silver

Sterling silver is tarnish resistance however unlike gold filled it is best to keep silver out of direct sunlight when not being worn. It is advised to protect your DAĀS silver jewelry in the small pouch given with every purchase. Sterling silver is hypoallergenic meaning no green skin and we never use lead or nickel. To help prolong shine and lifespan, we advise to limit contact with water, liquids and chemicals.

Care Guide:

Is your jewelry 'waterproof'?

'Waterproof' jewelry is made from a base metal of stainless steel or brass with an outer layer of solid gold. This process makes the jewelry more durable when in regular contact with water. However, it does not mean that the gold will not fade over time, it just takes much longer to fade than the average electroplated high-street/ cheaper jewelry.

The only truly waterproof jewelry is solid gold, which is expensive. Gold filled jewelry is an affordable alternative, especially for the girls who love to keep adding new pieces to their jewelry collection.

Our jewelry is only made from gold filled or sterling silver materials. This means your DAĀS jewels will last many years with the proper care and won't turn your skin green - so when you can, just remove your jewels before contact with water and chemicals to prolong your piece and keep your gold brighter!

Caring and Storing
  • Any lotions, deodorants, perfumes, household items can harm your gold-filled jewels and discolor them over time.
  • All stainless-steel based jewelry can be worn in water. However, constant contact with water and liquids can reduce the lifespan of your jewelry so we advise to remove when exercising, washing your hands, showering, swimming or doing anything that involves moisture the best that you can.
  • Store your jewelry pieces individually, you can keep them in our DAĀS Jewelry organic cotton pouch so that they don’t rub together, scratch or tangle.
Cleaning
  • After wearing, clean your jewelry carefully with a soft, non-abrasive, soft jewelry cloth. This helps maintain or bring back its shine.
Caring for your pearls
  • Wipe pearls gently with a lint free cloth and store in the protective DAĀS Jewelry pouch provided.
  • For a pearl to keeps its luster, it’s best to remove pearl jewelry before any contact with water or liquids.
